S2:P11 – Work when you’re tired, sleep when you can… USA #8

Season 2: Post Eleven.

Laying on a motel bed having spent the last 40 minutes trying to get some sleep. It’s 7pm and other than the draw of more delicious fish tacos, I just want to sleep. Last night we got back to Charleston at 2:30am, having played Savannah and then made the somewhat awful decision to drive 2 hours back to Charleston. It did mean 2 hours less driving today but I’m not sure it was worth it. Oh well…

This morning, after having had 4 hours sleep, I pushed out 5 miles on another ghetto treadmill. It was a bit of a struggle to say the least but those miles are so integral to my mind’s peace. I also think that exercise when you are over tired can really help. Exercise and coffee, my best kept (not kept at all) secret.

We hit the road after a few too many free hotel lobby coffees and spent 4 hours driving to Wilmington, which is where tonight’s show is. It was a pretty uneventful drive except for a quick visit to Bass Pro Shop. If you don’t know about Bass Pro Shop then look it up, it’s essentially a hunting store that you can try out crossbows, fishing rods (in actual aquarium sized tanks) and even race boats – some stores boast a boat treadmill. It’s more of a exhibition come museum more than a retail experience. They also sell very cheap flannel shirts.

I’m so tired.

Tonight we are in Wilmington for the second time. Last time we were here was on our first US tour and we met some absolute characters. If we encounter them again tonight, it will make for a great story. I’ll let you know.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Peace & love.
