Spontaneous London Trip: Witness for the prosecution.

If you want a bit of context to today’s post, then take a quick look at yesterday’s post about anxiety through the holiday period and you’ll know that I perhaps wasn’t in the best frame of minds yesterday. Ways of coping with these lower moments, for me, range in a manner of a few activities; first of all, fitness (mostly running), creating (art, writing and song-making) and travel/experiences/adventure. Well, once I had finished my 9 mile run for my physical release and I’d written yesterday’s post for my creative release, I booked a last minute ticket to London and Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution at London’s County Hall.

The view from my seat.

The ticket cost me £12.00, my seat in the Galleries of the County Hall had a reasonable view (a pillar to my left, but it didn’t impinge much, and made no difference to the performance). I enjoyed the whole thing immensely. You literally cannot beat raw acting; a performance where you’re not looking through a screen. In the theatre you can feel the energy; the gripping moments make your skin tingle, the convincing emotion in the acting has you fixated on the stage. The story is well written, the acting is phenomenal, the set and scenery has a real unique feel; being in the court makes you feel as though you are part of the story. If you want more information on it then I encourage you to search it, then (most importantly) go and see it.

London looking spectacular.

Being in London helped immensely with all my worries and qualms about the holiday period, it made me realise that there’s a lot more to the world than my little bubble. On the contrary to yesterday, I’m actually feeling quite excited about the week ahead. This morning started with a 2 mile swim and now I’m off to the gym for a quick strength session. I’ve also acquired some Cannon Ball coffee (courtesy of my brother) which is supposedly the most caffeinated coffee you can buy? So I’m expecting a good session!

Give me all the coffee.

So, in summery, if you’re feeling down then go do something spontaneous and cultured. If you’re not feeling down, also do something spontaneous and cultured. Go watch Witness For The Prosecution – 9.5/10 from me.

Happy Holidays.
